Giving Asha is a USA-based 501(c)(3) non-profit providing hope and opportunity to the women and children of Asia. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, we work to improve the quality of life of economically and socially marginalized women and children through:

Our philosophy is to support the “whole child," meaning that when we offer support to a student ,we naturally get to know and care about the whole family. Children cannot study properly if there is a problem at home. If there is an illness in the family, we help out. If there is hunger in the family, we provide food. In these ways, our student’s families become “our” families and they stay connected to us long after our monetary support has ended. They celebrate both local and western holidays with us, turn to us for advice and counseling on big decisions, and include us in their daily lives.
Even though we operate on a small budget with challenges of appropriating funds, Giving Asha still grows every day. We add new students to our scholarship program, but never really drop any of them totally. We open new libraries, but continue to visit and support them as long as they are being used. |
