9:41 A.M. Beth Brewster: Today we took the proactive step of buying 50 sacks of rice and 30 kgs of dal. The staple foods of the Nepalese diet. Prices have already started to rise on these basic commodities. Most of our parents are day laborers and they cannot afford to buy in bulk, which means they buy only 1 or 2 kgs. of rice at a time. With the prices rising everyday this could mean the kg of rice you paid 60 Nrs on Monday could be 75 by Friday. Every rupee counts when you do not have steady life supporting work. Initially this will go to our students, but we also want to support the other dump picker families living at the dumpsite.
9:28 A.M. Parus (Beth's daughter): This is a kind request to all human on this earth to help and support the recent happening earthquake victims in Nepal, please provide what you can i.e. food, rice, tents, clothing, medical support, -anything you are capable of and help them overcome this cruel and disaster situations. Small steps by Beth Brewster that will save few lives.
